Description

My name is Halina Connolly and I run Holme Valley Dyslexia Centre in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.

With over 24 years of experience as a teacher, SENCo and senior leader across three local authorities and as a parent of SEND children, I understand how overwhelming it can feel when your child is struggling and you don’t know where to turn. My goal is to offer clear answers, practical support and genuine understanding to every family I work with.

I carry out full diagnostic dyslexia assessments for children and young people aged 8 to 18. Every assessment is carried out by me and follows current SASC guidelines, using the 2024 Delphi definition of dyslexia. Reports are clear, accessible and tailored to support schools, exam access arrangements or workplace needs.

I also offer one to one multisensory tuition, personalised to each learner’s profile. These sessions are designed to build confidence, develop key skills and create a calm, supportive space to learn and grow.

I hold a current SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate and an AMBDA Level 7 qualification in teaching and assessing learners with specific learning difficulties. I have an enhanced DBS, I am Paediatric First Aid Trained and Team Teach trained. I am passionate about providing professional, evidence based support.
