QUICK GUIDE EHCP Annual Review Timeline

Annual reviews of an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) must take place at least once every 12 months, as mandated by the Children and Families Act 2014. These reviews are not just procedural they’re a statutory safeguard to ensure that a child or young person’s needs, provision, and placement remain appropriate and lawful. Reviews should be scheduled with enough time to allow for meaningful input from parents, professionals, and the child or young person themselves, ideally aligning with key educational transitions or changes in circumstance.
