Prepared by SEN Parent Support Group for parent, carers, professionals and CYP.
The 2026 SEND Reform Consultation is one of the most important moments for our community in over a decade, and every parent’s voice genuinely matters. The Department for Education will be analysing responses using automated systems that can group similar answers together, which means families risk being “lost in the data” unless their experiences are expressed in their own words. To make sure our children are heard clearly and individually, we have created a guided Parent Consultation Response Tool.
It helps you share you and your child’s lived experience powerfully and safely, while also reflecting the key concerns identified in our analysis of the White Paper. This tool is not a template it is a well thought out structured support resource designed to protect your voice, amplify your story, and ensure that the government cannot overlook the realities faced by SEND families.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The deadline for responses is 18th May 2026 at 11.59pm. Responses submitted earlier tend to be reviewed more carefully before the final surge. But the final week often sees the highest volume and high volume itself is a form of political pressure. our coordinated push will be most effective if parents aim to complete their responses between late April and mid‑May .
